James began playing Guitar at the age of 15. Over the years, he developed his skills further by playing in bands. He gained performance experience in the Cincinnati area by playing at such venues as Urban Artifact and with acts such as MULTIMAGIC. Though James can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Strokes, and indie pop bands which had great influence on his style of playing. James loves music because it's the universal language and loves teaching music because it brings joy to others. They can expect to learn proper fingering techniques as well as how to strum and hold the instrument properly. They will also get a deep understanding of music theory and how to interpret the guitar fret board configuration. They will learn how to improvise, and write their own music as well as understand the historical implications of guitar within modern music.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
They will learn about the greatest bass guitar players of all time and will get a deeper respect for the sound of the instrument. My students will learn how to improvise and write bass licks for songs.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
My students will learn the circle of fifths and understand music theory to the point where they can take a scale and learn how to build chords and chord progressions. They will learn how to create dynamic movements with good phrasing and accompaniment to support their melodies.
