3 Years
Hello! My name is Lola, and I am excited to work with you! I am currently an Honor's student finishing my third year studying Music Recording and Technology at Georgia State University. This is an intense music program focused on a mix of classical music training and audio recording and production. In my time at Georgia State, I have completed courses in music theory, aural skills, music history, audio recording, the music industry and computer music. I began singing when I was 7 years old in my church choir and I haven't stopped since! I have sung in sacred music ensembles, school choirs, musicals, trios, small ensembles, and women's choirs, so I have experience with quite a few genres. I currently study privately under Kay Pascal at Georgia State University where I sing Mezzo-Soprano within my solo repertoire and either alto or soprano in choral ensembles. Previously, I have directed and assistant-taught children's choirs for 3 years and I have a passion for sharing music with young minds. I specialize in teaching female students between the ages of 6 and 13. I am open to singing just about anything the student wants to learn to sing. I believe there's no "right place" to begin learning, and with proper technique, any genre can be achieved! I love working with children; I have a very high energy, positive style when it comes to teaching. And while singing is a fun, beautiful art, but it can be challenging as well. I understand many of the frustrating aspects, and, because of this, I believe I can guide students towards healthy, beautiful and fun singing!
Lola F. has over 3 years of music experience in the Atlanta area.

What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
I always start by introducing proper breathing techniques and warm-ups to prevent damage to the vocal cords. Also, I believe there is no right place to start learning to sing, so I like to work with what the student would like to sing and, from there, work on building a more complete musical understanding. I pull songs from anywhere from Disney films, Broadway, opera or even hymnals, and once we've chosen a good place to start, I begin introducing important concepts in music theory in aural skills to keep the student engaged, but also improve their musicality. Music theory and aural skills are incredibly important for improving not only as a singer but for any musician; I like to center every lesson on these concepts in an engaging way. I also take very detailed notes during every lesson to keep track of progress.
