About Me

Matt started playing at age 9 taking lessons and playing rock, blues and metal.  He took classical guitar lessons for 4 years while in high school.  1984-1987

Matt earned a Bachelors Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music specializing in Jazz guitar performance and songwriting. 1987-1991

Matt moved to Nashville and became a road musician for 3 years playing Country guitar touring the Southeast.  1991-1994

Matt landed a house gig in Nashville as jazz guitarist for the Gene Haffner Quartet and Swing thing for 5 years at the Sherlock Holmes Pub.  1994-1999

Matt became lead guitarist for the Nashville Heavy Metal band Seed.  1999-2001

Matt became a member of the critically acclaimed progressive rock band Liquid Village and co produced their CD All at Once.  During this period Matt also taught classes on processing gear for guitar and improv at the Music School on Music Row  2001-2008

Matt led his own jazz trio doing corporate functions at Vanderbilt University and Sunday Brunches at the Trace restaraunt in Nashville.  2008-2009

Matt led a Rock band called Moontraxx and played local Nashville clubs.  2009-2010

Matt went solo doing chord solos, classical pieces and vocal tunes at wine and cheeze events and art shows in Nashville.  2010-present

Formal Education:

I have a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music with a professional music degree with a guitar perfomance/songwriting mix.

Private Education:

I have taken 4 years of classical guitar lessons.

Performing Experience:

I toured the Southeast playing country in honkey tonks in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky.

I played the Beale Street Jazz Festival in Memphis with Victor Wooten on Bass.

I was the house guitarist in the Gene Haffner Quartet playing jazz every Friday night 8 to midnight at the Sherlock Holmes pub in Nashville.

I performed jazz at Vanderbilt University at Fund Raising events and events to honor doctors.

I performed at the Summer Solstice Festival playing original progressive rock as one of the opening acts for Jim Lauderdale.

I performed twice at the Tye Dye Festival in Adams TN.

I have performed at many clubs and bars in all four quadrants metro Nashville and surrounding areas in Middle Tennessee and Memphis playing solos, duets, and bands playing Country, Rock, Blues, Metal, Jazz, R&B, Top 40, Classical, Experimental, and Avant-Guarde.

I taught students privately and at the Music School on Music Row in Nashville, TN.
