Hey I’m Kevin! I'm a guitar/bass player from Richmond, Va. I've been playing for 10 years. My musical influences are classic rock, alternative rock, country, pop, heavy rock and even jazz, so we can learn any of these styles and more! My teaching process is very flexible and can cater to any students need. My philosophy as a teacher is that I want to instill drive and confidence, as well technical ability and knowledge, into the player so that they feel strong playing their instrument and that they are always yearning to learn more and more. Also, I want to give you the knowledge to be able to pick along with your favorite songs! Ultimately my goal is this, have fun! The pros make it look easy but learning new instrument takes time. Patience is key. I started off just playing by ear for many years then completed 2 years of music and guitar theory at John Tyler community college. I've put together a lesson plan that will teach efficiently and exercises that will help you retain the information. We'll start with the basics like how to read, what the notes are, chords, scales and major/minor stuff. I'll take extra time on anything to help you understand. Remember patience is key! Thank you for reading my profile I would love to teach you or your child!

What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
In lessons with on bass we will learn technique and how to hold the bass guitar. We'll learn how to read music, scales, and some bass chords. We'll take as much time as the student needs. After we’ve gone through the basics I’ll show the student how to solo and improvise. We’ll learn standards in the genre of the students choice and any songs of the students choice they want to learn.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
In lessons with me you’ll learn chords, scales and how to read music. If it’s a beginner we will take time with each aspect with no rush at all taking time to make sure the student understands and retains the information. Once we’ve worked through all of this I’ll show the student how to put together their own chord progressions and scales, how it relates to their favorite music, and how to write a piece of music while also giving the student challenges to work on between lessons. I’ll teach the student how to improvise and jam. We will also learn various standards to practice not only technique and finger strength but strengthen the students musical literacy.
