Fernanda has always loved music from an early age. She began playing guitar at the age of 11 and continued her education by SUNY Stony Brook. Her musical influences include classical music, Brazilian music bossa-nova, choro, samba, jazz and folk. Fernanda's favorite thing about music is connecting with other people in ensembles and her favorite thing about teaching music is to help people discover and develop their passion for music. One of her favorite teaching experiences was teaching a four year old boy to play Amazing Grace. When taking lessons with Fernanda you can expect to learn your favorites songs, classical repertory, technique and theory. Classes are built according to the student's preferences and musical taste. I can teach chords (songs), classical guitar repertory, theory, classical technique, etc.
Formal Education:
Fernanda has a B.A. in music (classical guitar) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She earned a Master's degree in music (history and theory) at SUNY-Stony Brook.
