Hi, my name is Carolyne, and I am a Piano Teacher from Austin, TX, and I have been a student of music since 1993. I have a unique background as I have studied music independently (self-taught for 12 years) as well as with teachers (college professors included!). My teaching style can come across as extremely lenient, but I tend to get strict if my students don't practice! In my lessons, you can expect to learn the history and theory behind the pieces you play. In other words, expect to learn the “why." I teach in the classical style before allowing my students to explore genres like pop and jazz. As I like to tell my students, you must first KNOW the rules before you can BREAK the rules. My favorite thing about teaching is the constant challenge to explain something in a new way that allows my students to understand better. I primarily teach Piano, but I can also teach voice. My approach as a teacher is to improve the quality of life through musical education and expression. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
Carolyne M. has over 9 years of music experience in the Pflugerville area.
Carolyne M. is proficient in and teaches Keyboard and Piano Lessons, Vocal Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
For Beginner Vocals: Learn how to breathe. Yes, this sounds odd, but breathing is the most important aspect to learning how to utilize your instrument. Songs are sung in Italian to emphasize "pure vowels" For Intermediate Vocals: Lend expression to your songs. Techniques in breathing and posture, as well as experience in acapella harmonization.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
For Beginner Piano: Understand the basics of piano. This is usually done through the Alfred Premier series, but can be tailored to suit your needs. For Intermediate Piano: Explore the meaning and practice of musicianship. Understand the "why" behind the pieces you play, as well as what makes a master performer vs a beginner. For Advanced Piano: Experience the freedom to choose your genre as well as explore composition. Learn what techniques are vital in each area of music, as well as how to create your own.
Formal Education:
Certificate of Teaching Piano, Currently working on a BA in Business.
Private Education:
Private education through numerous professionals, including Sofia Zukerman, a renown piano player and pedagogy teacher
Performing Experience:
I am a teacher, not a performer. However, I have recorded piano tracks for a couple indie bands.
Experience Teaching:
I have worked for private studios as well as my own. I have been teaching piano since 2010 and opened my own studio in California in 2013. I have also tutored English, Reading, Math and Swimming, on top of being a daycare teacher and private nanny. What can I say? I love working with kids!

Carolyne
Carolyne is an outstanding teacher. Her years of experience combined with her affinity for teaching are a great combination for any piano student, young or old. This was my first ever instrument course that I have taken and she helped break down the study material so that I could understand it. I would highly recommend Carolyne to any person interested in taking piano lessons. Two thumbs up! Brandon Andrade wrote on Tue, 25 Feb 2020
