Rebecca has always loved music from an early age. She began playing piano at the age of 6 and continued her education at Mary Washington College, where she specialized in classical and Broadway vocal technique, piano pedagogy, show choir, and secondary education. Her musical influences include her parents, who are both musicians, James Bay, Kate Nash, ZZ Ward, Tom Waits, Regina Spector, Marian Hill, Lady Gaga, St. Vincent, CHVRCHES, Halsey, and Kimbra to name just a few! Rebecca's favorite thing about music is the way it speaks directly to the soul, even when there are no words, and her favorite thing about teaching music is watching students light up with accomplishment as they meet and exceed expectations and goals. To Rebecca, there is nothing more fulfilling than experiencing a musical journey with a student, and being there to support, encourage and enliven their dreams. What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner -
Students can expect creative song writing classes that help bring out the inner artist. Using a combination of listening and analytical excercises, and “flow” style brainstorming, students will open the doors to expression.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Students can expect fun, engaging piano classes that enhance strength, flexibility, and music theory comprehension. No stuffy, old school methods! Rebecca enjoys combining creative and improvisational exercises, songs, and scale patterns, as well as technology enhanced technique builders and music reading aids to make lessons personal and diverse.
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Students can expect fun, personally tailored vocal classes to increase strength, range, confidence, flexibility and technique. Rebecca loves to combine classical exercises with an awareness and acknowledgment of the anatomy of the body and vocal instrument to create successful singing in any genre.
