About Me

Hi, My name is Robbie and have been involved in music since age 12, learning to play clarinet then moving on to Holy Cross High School participating concert, jazz bands, as well as Chorus and becoming Band Captain in 1975. I went on to attain my B.A. in Music Therapy with a certification in instrumental and choral music from Suno and Our Lady of Holy Cross College in Algiers, LA. My professional career began in 1977 and have continued to present as a keyboardist, guitarist and vocalist, performing venues as small as private weddings and parties, night and dance clubs, and large venues including the Slidell Jazz Festival at Fritchie Park. I would classify my teaching style as eclectic and driven by students desires and needs. My favorite thing about teaching is when the light goes on in a student after having put in much hard work and they GET IT! I primarily teach piano and guitar but can also instruct in vocal music along with clarinet and saxophone. My main goal is to develop a teaching strategy to meet the goals of each individual student because everyone's needs are unique and lessons will be tailored to those particular needs. What to expect in my Vocal Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Warm up pre lesson exercises, lesson consists of instruction on what student is working on along with reinforcement of other skills previously learned, centering on technique, proper style of the genre and musical phrasing along with answers of student questions that may arise at anytime during the lesson.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

All lessons include warm up including stretching exercising instruction in applicable music theory and technique that is involved in the learning and performance of what the student is learning. There may also be time to run over older already material that the student may like to play for their enjoyment. All lessons will center on needed theory, suggestions in phrasing and styles related and specific technique needed to successfully perform pieces being worked on.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I prefer to teach beginner and intermediate students, mostly in popular music and some light classical. All lessons consist of warm up with proper breathing, some music theory of preferred by the student, practice in musical style and phrasing depending on music genre that the student wishes to perform and answering any questions the student may have in relation to musical content they are learning
