Shaun began playing bass, drums, ad guitar at the age of 12. Over the years, he developed his skills further by studying music in High School Jazz Ensemble and playing/performing in many bands of many genres and styles, and writes and records his own music for other artist and himself. He gained performance experience in the Los Angeles area by playing at such venues as the world-famous Whisky-a-go-go, The Roxy, The Viper Room, The Key Club, and the Palace Theater to name a few places. And with acts such as Glenn Hughes Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Chad Smith Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mike Watt The Minutemen, Iggy Pop & the Stooges, CKY & Fishbone to name a few. Though Shaun can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are rock, funk, R&B, soul, Metal, jazz, punk, hip hop which had great influence on his style of playing. Shaun loves music because it is his true deep passion in life and loves teaching music because he loves to share his knowledge and see people become the players they've always wanted to be! Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Usually on our first meeting we talk a bit about what you want to achieve out of taking bass lessons. What are your goals? Then we go from there and I tailor specific lessons accordingly to what we want to achieve together. I can teach from very beginning techniques as in how to hold the instrument correctly, talk about the components of the instrument to make sure you have an understanding of some essential basics. I also teach advanced techniques from slapping/funk bass, tapping, learning to use all of your fingers, pick paying, soloing, and improvisation to name a few popular techniques I get asked to teach often. very hands on and for beginners I will have you playing a song by the time we finish our first lesson! I like to keep it fun because music must be fun always!!
