Hi, my name is Jiwon and I am a violinst from Richmond, VA. I have been a student of music for 10 years. I was part of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra for over 6 years and reached the highest possible level in the program RSYO. My teaching style can best be described as laid back and supportive. In my lessons, you can expect to learn basic violin playing such as music theory and scales, as well as being able to play basic to advanced classical songs as well as pop songs. I will also teach the art of improvization so one can learn to listen to a pop song on the radio and be able to play it on their instrument in their unique style, without sheet music. My favorite performance was being able to play at my teacher's wedding when they came down the isle. My students love that I am easy to talk to and play a variety of popular songs on differeent instruments. I primarily teach violin, but I can also teach guitar, piano, and the use of logic pro X. What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
I teach violin to students that are part of an orchestra and have the knowledge to help students become better within an orchestra, whether it's at school or in a private orchestra. I focus on the student coming to me with their own questions and practicing on their own time. Something that I have that other teachers might not have is my experience in the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra. Being familiar with the orchestral setting and playing with other instruments and players in a full orchestra, I am able to give tips on how to become a better orchestral player or a solo violin player. Furthermore, I provide tips on how to play any song you want on violin by improvising and being able to listen and interpret new sounds and notes. I am also a Undergraduate student at the Univerrsity of Richmond hoping to minor in music, so I am able to appeal to the younger generations of musicians and connect with them more personally than other older violin teachers.
