Nice to meet you! I'm Phil, and I've been playing the violin for sixteen years. I have a patient, focused, goal-oriented teaching style based around pedagogical practices and my own personal experiences as a musician. Studying with me will help you cultivate technique that is fine and precise, develop a deeper appreciation for music, and most importantly, help you perfect the art of practicing smart. Some of my specialties include audition prep, musical theater/opera, baroque style, contemporary music, chamber-music, orchestral playing, and solo playing. I am comfortable teaching anybody so long as they have the drive to improve, meeting both long-term and short-term goals!

What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
- Intermediate - Advanced
We will be going through a fairly even distribution of scales, etudes, and repertoire that all match your level as a player. My style of teaching is a synthesis of rote and exploration style learning, and my hope is that you will enter every lesson with a distinct set of goals and with preparation that you can be proud of! I will make my expectations and objectives that I set for you very clear at all times. Our lesson space is a zone free of judgment where you will feel safe and I will meet your needs as a student and person.

Multiple times Concertmaster of Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra, Soloist with Oklahoma University New Century Ensemble, Operas such as Carmen and Hansel and Gretel, Musicals such as Light in the Piazza and Dogfight, member of Baldwin Wallace University Bach Festival Orchestra, and multiple times finalist in the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory Concerto Competition.

I have the most experience working with kids ages 10 to 12, but due to my extensive history of principal positions in orchestral ensembles, I have spent a long time instructing and bringing out the best in my collegiate peers.
