About Me

Paul is a music major at Benedictine College studying Piano under the guidance of Michelle Rautmann. Paul began playing at the age of 8. Paul has played countless recitals and has performed as a member of the Don Jamison Jazz school at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival from age 10-17. In addition, Paul is a member of the Benedictine College Concert Chorale Ensemble. Paul has performed 7 concerts and 5 recitals as a student at Benedictine College. As a teacher, Paul has students in the Atchison, Kansas and greater New Orleans area. He believes in teaching the fundamentals of music to his students and helping them grasp the concepts of music theory in the process. Mission Statement | A student will be able to play and identify: the five finger scales, major and all three forms of minor scales in every key, full range of the piano scales, diatonic chords in every key, sight reading, exercises that will enhance technique, root position, first inversion, second inversion, augmented, as well as diminished chords and classical pieces that fit the student's skill level.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner -

Mission Statement | A student will Be able to play and identify: the five finger scales, major and all three forms of minor scales in every key, full range of the piano scales, diatonic chords in every key, sight reading, exercises that will enhance technique, root position, first inversion, second inversion, augmented, as well as diminished chords. Classical, jazz, blues, R&B, and today's Pop music pieces will be taught to the student in correlation with techniques. Students will learn the 12 bar blues format as well as different techniques for improvisation.
