Hi, my name is Omar and I am a music education major from Marietta, Ga. I have been a student of music for 9 years. My musical influences include Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Chick Corea, as well as more contemporary players such as, Jeff Coffin, Matt Wilson, Chris Potter, and snarky puppy. I also enjoy listening to all other types of music such as classical, hip-hop, Rock and Roll, Indie, Alternative, Ballad, and Jazz. My teaching style can best be described as Student-Centered. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe that all people regardless of age should receive some sort of musical education in their lives. In my lessons, you can expect to learn how to be an excellent musician and role model. I like to tell my students what impact they will make on society. My favorite thing about teaching is connecting with students and allowing me to influence their lives in a positive manner. I primarily teach woodwinds except for piccolo and double reeds, but I can also teach beginning trumpet and beginning piano.
