Timothy M.

Hi, my name is Timothy and I am an incoming college sophomore from Shafter, CA. I have been a student of music for 9 years. My musical influences include my high school teachers, my drum corps instructors, and peers that I have worked with. I also enjoy playing baseball and hiking. My teaching style can best be described as interactive and easy-going. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I teach at the pace of the student. Students are taught at different paces and my goal is to work with them. In my lessons, you can expect to learn major and possibly minor scales, posture, techniques on how to use the instrument, various etudes. I like to tell my students not everything is handed to you, you have to work for the success to be successful. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the students reaction to when they get the note, phrase or anything right. My favorite performance was going to London, England for the New Years Day Parade. My students love that I am funny and it’s a real relaxed environment when I am teaching. I primarily teach trumpet, but I can also teach tuba and vocals. My approach as a teacher is to make sure the student is not nervous or afraid to ask me anything referring to music.
