About Me

Freeana  is a Cambridge, MA based vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and improviser whose music comes from a very deep, passionate, soulful place. It has been described as, “uplifting,” eloquent,” “unique,” and “healing” to many audiences.
She is an inspiring, patient, easy-going teacher taking each student individually and getting right into what kind of music they want to learn and the best approach for the individual's learning abilities. She is an equally skilled teacher vocally and instrumentally using current music and various method books to motivate and technically improve the students' skill level.
Freeana has performed and delighted audiences all over the Boston and New England areas including Kripalu Center and Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY, playing solo performances as well as collaborating with other musicians in different styles and genres. She has been playing music in some form or another for 37 years with the last 23 years devoted to her own musical compositions and improvisations.

Freeana is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where she majored in viola performance and minored in saxophone. She was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic while still a student and toured with them, playing at various venues including Carnegie Hall.

After graduation she wanted to explore the music inside of her. In support of this she commited much time to writing and improvising freely for many years. She explored other instruments such as the recorder, voice, keyboard and dumbek. Her music encompasses a range of ritual sounds to beautiful melodies with sensitive lyrics to catchy instrumentals. Freeana has also created on “A Woman’s Chant,” her debut CD, a language all her own that speaks in syllables where the words don’t matter; it is the underlying emotion and essence that springs forth and provides meaning.
Her second album, "A Child's Trust" is a beautiful landscape of joyous melodies, rhythms and soaring lyrics that speak to one's heart.
