About Me

Hi, my name is Marcus and I am a guitar instructor from North Texas. I have been a student of music for 10+ years. I have played a variety of styles, so I can model my lessons off of the student's interests. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I believe in results-driven lessons. In other words, prescribing things that lead you to whatever your end goal is based on my years of experience working with musicians. I like my students to start playing and having musical experiences from day one. This is great because it gets you invested in your musical journey right from the get-go. I like to tell my students that organized and focused practice is the key to success as a musician. This helps my students progress faster because they know exactly what effective practice habits are. My favorite thing about teaching is being to help a student reach their personal musical goals. I primarily teach guitar/piano, but I can also teach ukulele. Thank you for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I am a big music theory nerd, so for a song writing lesson I help you analyze songs you like and give you creative solutions for adapting that to create your own musical voice.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I am very focused on developing your ear for whatever style you want to play. So, to that end for most popular styles I help them learn from the recording. In addition, I teach my student to read music and know basic music theory to be versatile musicians.

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

I believe to be an effective pianist you should know how to read music, so I start with that. For more popular styles, I help with building arrangements for the songs on piano.
