My name is Jesse, and I am a drummer, guitarist, and singer/song-writer from the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. I have been a musician for about fifteen years, since I was 15 years old, and have been teaching it for the past five years. My teaching style can best be described as "unique per individual." All of my students in the past have each required their own individual learning techniques, which makes teaching that much more fulfilling, because of all the unique aspects that come with it. My teaching philosophy can best be described by my emphasis of the mantra that "passion is most important, and practice is second most important!" In my lessons, you can expect to learn many kinds of musical genres, mostly geared towards your personal preferences. I like to tell emphasize also to my students that nothing can be learned overnight; it takes time to master an instrument, but anyone can do it with the right amount patience, passion, and practice! My favorite thing about teaching is the many talented students I have had the privilege of meeting, teaching, and likewise learning from them as their instructor. My students love that I am both very serious about music, but very fun in my lessons. I primarily teach percussion, as I am a drummer by nature, but I can also teach guitar and bass. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
Jesse R. has over 5 years years of music experience in the Evesham Township area.
Jesse R. is proficient in and teaches Guitar Lessons, Bass Guitar Lessons, Drum Lessons, Song Writing Lessons .What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
The basics of positioning finger and body, the fingering numbers, the music theory notation, etc.
What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons
At first, a LOT of hand positioning and fingering techniques. Mastering the fret board is also very important. It is always important to nurture the creative aspects of bass guitar teaching.
What to expect in my Drum Lessons
The importance of reading percussionist music, mostly the notation of specific idioms using special symbols with what is most familiar to the students. It is also important to slowly, but eventually, introduce the various parts and pieces that come with drums or percussion instruments, such as one or two practice pads and a drum kit, as well as a selection of sticks, brushes, mallets, and a metronome. I like to have manuscript paper, it is a valuable source. A stereo with an auxiliary jack is very useful for playing CDs and iPods, and for amplifying a metronome enough to be heard while a student plays you’ll also need cables to hook up your iPod/metronome to the input jack of your stereo. All of this is obviously a slow and steady process.
What to expect in my Guitar Lessons
I am a big fan of the "CAGED" system. Guitar is an instrument that I am very careful in teaching because it can be overwhelming for beginners when they are first learning. I find that the best way to teach guitar is to let the students choose what songs they want to learn first, because the pride and fulfillment that comes with them hearing themselves play a song they love is very encouraging for them and makes them excited to continue learning. How I teach beginning students logically differs from how I would teach intermediate or advanced students.
