About Me
Dyce ’s journey as a musician began at age 5 in Japan, when he strummed an old guitar at his grandparents’ home and knew instantly he was destined to play. By 19, with just a guitar and a duffel bag, he left Japan for America to chase his dream of becoming a professional musician. Within two years, he was gigging seven nights a week, teaching, and playing sessions as an established pro. Dyce’s raw talent, relentless drive, and life’s highs and lows have shaped him into a guitarist, singer, and songwriter with a uniquely honest and soulful voice. Music has always been Dyce’s calling. From begging his parents for a guitar and lessons as a child, he pursued excellence with unwavering focus. Navigating the challenges of the Fort Lauderdale music scene, including its temptations, tested him early on. Yet, Dyce found balance and purpose through sobriety, faith, and serving his community, particularly through uplifting music at Sheridan Hills Baptist Church, where he remains active in music ministries. Today, Dyce teaches guitar and voice full-time at his personal studio, both in person and via Zoom, guiding aspiring pros, semi-pros, and hobbyists toward their musical goals. His passion for teaching shines through in his innovative YouTube guitar lesson videos and his beginner-series guitar lesson DVD. When he’s not playing or teaching, Dyce cherishes time with his wife, Valerie, and their children, Isaiah, Naomi, Jordan, and Mercy. For Dyce, music is more than a craft—it’s a way to inspire, uplift, and connect. Whether mentoring students, creating content, or serving through song, he’s dedicated to helping others find joy and meaning through music.

Dyce’s action-packed lessons get aspiring students learning real songs in no time—all while teaching them music theory and scales that connects the music to relatable, practical theory. His custom-tailored lessons are based on this realization. “I know that all of my students are unique, both as people, and as musicians,” Dyce states, “so I realized that my lessons should celebrate these differences.” Instead of following a rigid, “cookie-cutter” approach to teaching, he makes allowances for these differences, and custom tailors a lesson plan that enriches their musical tastes, goals, and strengths.
