Hi, my name is Frank and I am a jazz trumpeter and composer from Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. I have been a student of music for 8 years. My musical influences include Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, Maynard Ferguson, and I also enjoy Chet Baker and Wynton Marsalis. My teaching style can best be described as efficient. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I want to make sure that students find as much joy as possible through learning about music. In my lessons, you can expect to learn about brass techniques, music theory, compositional techniques, and much more. I like to tell my students to put as much passion into their musical endeavors as they can. My favorite thing about teaching is spreading my musical knowledge and helping others to hone their skills. I primarily teach trumpet performance and jazz composition, but I can also teach trombone and music theory. My approach as a teacher is to let the students learn at a pace best suited for them. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon!
Frank S. has over 4 years of music experience in the Jim Thorpe area.
Frank S. is proficient in and teaches Song Writing Lessons, Orchestral Lessons .Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students can expect to learn about many compositional techniques to aid them in their endeavors. They will also be learning about the many elements of music theory that go into song writing and composition, such as extended harmonies and orchestration.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Students can expect to learn the fundamentals of playing the trumpet. What will be focused on depends on the experience of the students, and their lessons will be tailored to their skill levels. Beginners can expect to focus on the basics of trumpet playing, including learning about proper breathing, articulation, scales, and embouchure placement, as well as instrument care. Intermediate to advanced players can expect to learn more about extended techniques, improvised soloing specifically in jazz/blues, and anything previously mentioned that they feel that they need help with.
Formal Education:
I am currently a senior music performance major at Moravian College, and will be graduating with a B.M. in May 2018.
Private Education:
I have been taking private trumpet lessons for nearly 4 years with the likes of Dr. Carl Hess, Alan Gaumer, and Lawrence Wright. I have also taken private composition lessons for the past 3 years with jazz composer Tony Gairo.
