Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Form my piano lessons, basic, proper technique will be covered on the piano. As a teenage learner, I have a unique perspective about teenagers and adults learning the piano. In addition to emphasizing concepts of music theory, students will focus on gaining abilities in sight reading on the piano. Improvisation is an optional element that can be included in lessons.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
In oboe lessons, students can expect to learn about playing the oboe with proper technique. Reedmaking will be taught, as well as guidance on performance techniques of vibrato, rhythm, tuning, and musicality. Important repertoire will be covered for advanced students. Students will be coached for performances with bands. Learning, effective practice techniques will also be an important element to lessons as well as listening to recordings.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Students can pursue Ableton Live, traditional composition, or study music theory for lessons. In basic songwriting, students will work with Ableton live to mix music and learning about harmony, setting words to text, study the works of others, and engage in audio techniques. In basic to advanced music composition, students will study a broad variety of music through scores, learn musicianship skills such as solfege, and engage in orchestration. Advice about making a piece of music better through ongoing projects will be essential for either activity. Scoring for a movie will be a possibility.
