Hello my name is Daina! I'm a professionally trained opera singer living in Chicago but have taught voice and piano for just over four years! As a working musician I think it's important to spread my love of performing and music to students and encourage them to see live music whenever possible. Along with opera, I love musical theater and encourage practicing all kinds of style of singing in lessons. Although, I love the diversity of music I do teach a strong technique based in classical music and highlight the importance of music theory within singing and piano. I love working with students of all ages and tailor each lesson to the individual's strengths!

What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
Each student will have an assignment notebook to keep track of every lesson and where I write assignments. The lesson will begin with warm-ups and practicing breath control and maybe some easy sight-reading exercises depending on the students level. I will assign a new song every few weeks and it is the students responsibility topractice DAILY or at least three to four times a week on the given song; whether it's working on words, pitches or rhythm. I also work on basic acting skills in lessons to give the student a chance to open up and learn about character development!
What to expect in my Vocal Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
Every student will have at least three books; lesson, theory and technique and a fun pice of music.Each piano lesson will start with a technique warm up or scales then we would move on to the assigned lesson piece from the week prior. Every student is encouraged to practice daily and is resonsible to set their own practice time and record it in the lesson book! After the lesson book I will look over the theory assignment and we will do some written theory or sight reading in the lesson. After all that is done, then we can move on to the "fun" song which is usually something the student chooses to learn over a period of time.
