Hi! My name is Kathleen. I have taught voice and choral music for quite a few years. But I never tire of meeting a new person and a new voice and finding the potential in that student. I guarantee that if you work on what we do in lessons, you will develop a greater vocal range, grow your voice and add flexibility, and gain confidence in your singing. I want you to have fun and grow in your lessons, and I will teach all styles of singing. I have a Masters Degree in Voice from the University of Michigan. My favorite music is opera, BUT I don't expect everyone to like that. I studied with a wonderful teacher in New York who taught me to appreciate and work with all types of voices on all styles of music. I would love to meet you and your unique voice. We could have a great adventure!

Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
I begin with vocal exercises to build breath support, extend the range. They are not complicated or difficult musically. Sometimes they are just sounds. But they do warm up the voice and teach the student to sing with a relaxed open tone. About a third of the lesson is exercises. I would assign music that I think appropriate to the student and his goals and taste.. Working through the music, we would apply what was done in the vocal exercises. I don\'t do a lot of stop and start and repetition. I let the student sing through large sections and, hopefully, the vocal work done at the beginning of the lesson will inform the singing of songs. I am very positive in approach and aim for a relaxed atmosphere. I like to have fun while we both learn.

Voice Lessons Going Great
I've been meeting with Kathleen for numerous voice lessons, and have learned a lot of great fundamental techniques.
