Amanda began playing piano at the age of 5 and horn and trumpet at the age of 10. Over the years, she developed her skills further by involving herself as much musically she could in the community by playing in multiple groups, auditioning for honor bands, and performing in solos and chamber groups. She gained performance experience in the area by playing at venues such as the Scottish Rite Consistory, the Playhouse, Noce, and the Social Club in groups like the Des Moines Community Orchestra, Central Iowa Wind Ensemble, Glass Femur, Eastern Iowa Brass Band, and the Molly Brandt Band. She also keeps active by being a church pianist/organist. Though Amanda can teach many different genres of music, her musical personal favorites are jazz and orchestral which had great influence on her style of playing. Amanda loves music because it is her favorite way of self expression and relaxation that also drives her to meet performance and teaching goals. She loves teaching music because she enjoys seeing the progress each student has and how their individual skills differ and develop.
