I have always loved music from an early age. I began playing guitar at the age of 13 and continued my education by completing my Associate's Degree in music. My musical influences include Tool, NIN, A Perfect Circle, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. My favorite thing about music is the intellectual and creative process involved in playing and composing music, and my favorite thing about teaching music is helping each student obtain the foundation, knowledge, and skills necessary for them to achieve their own individual musical aspirations. What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

Basically a beginner's music theory course. Students can expect to learn lots of music fundamentals and theory. How to read music-rhythms, melodies, and harmonies. How to build chords and scales. The relationship between chords and scales. Phrasing. Rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic tension and release.

What to expect in my Bass Guitar Lessons

Beginner -

Students can expect lessons geared to them individually. I can teach everything from playing your favorite songs, to lessons in technique, reading music and tablature so he or she can learn to play whichever song they want without the assistance of a teacher, fretboard knowledge and theory, improvisation, general music theory and composition so that he or she can write his or her own songs, as well as general maintenance and repair, and practical knowledge regarding playing live, using and tweaking amps and foot pedals, etc. I use Guitar Pro 6 software as a visual aid, and can provide study sheets and notes in the form of Guitar Pro files for the student who may have the program or printed and/or .pdf documents for the student who may not have the program.

What to expect in my Guitar Lessons

Beginner - Intermediate

Formal Education:

I hold an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in music/classical guitar from Sandhills Community College.

Private Education:

I was self taught until I entered college. For years my teacher was the experience of playing with those who were more knowledgeable and experienced than myself at the time.

Performing Experience:

My performing experience ranges from college performances to playing in local bars on weekends every once in a while.

Experience Teaching:

Currently I'm teaching a class at the community college in my hometown. I also have previous experience teaching both group classes and private lessons.
