About Me

Motivated by the strong belief that music has the potential to transform society she has been strongly involved and works in the BRIDGES program located in Baltimore as well as the “Youth at Risk” in Argentina and participated in the YOA Orchestra of the America’s outreach program while on tour. Her motivation has been directly fueled by her experience, especially where the students which attend seek more than to simply learn to play an instrument; a place where music is not only a tool to communicate nearly as much as a tool to save lives. Not only does Ms. acknowledge the importance of music education in the cognitive development of young children, but the nourishing therapeutic effects created by the emotional embrace of music. Thus, is strongly engaged within the community, both in and out of musical projects that are at the service of others, as she believes that “The purpose of life is a life of purpose”.

Review:

Wonderful addition to our staff

"Ms. has been a wonderful addition to our teaching staff, providing group classes at a Baltimore City public school. The students are elementary school aged, mostly 3rd and 4th graders. Julia has been reliable, responsible and has truly engaged the students from the moment she started teaching the class. The class loves playing the cello! She has introduced improvisation, musical exploration and nurtured creativity in her classes and the students have responded with short pieces they composed on their own. In the past, our classes usually lose a few students over time, in the case of Ms. the class has grown. The students enjoy her teaching and respond to her enthusiasm, interest in and dedication to them. I highly recommend Ms. for your program. I believe wherever she teaches she will make a positive impact on youth and the program she participates in." Julia Dover wrote on Fri, 26 Jan 2018
