Joni is a performing musician, music teacher and Alexander Technique teacher. She has spent over ten years performing original music and academic compositions in public and private events. She has always been a natural performer and at the age of 20 she decided to follow music as her purpose. She started weaving talents in college and dove in Milwaukee, Wisconsin's music scene with back-up singing, collaborative projects, and song writing on her own. She made her first footprint of original music Dividing Silence to then form her band, The City Pines in 2013. They wrote and performed their music in their art-rock style out in Portland, OR. Her mystical voice along with fluid keyboard arrangements draw from a mix of classical, experimental, composition, and folk-pop-blues-rock realms to deliver a pairing of spectral intensity and soulful ambiance. Music is her pathway for healing, being present, and building a vision. Whether an audience or student, she guides them to a creative state that serves their self-discovery.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
We turn to music for various reasons: to develop skill, be happy, and express through authentic emotion to name a few. Among receiving general music education, Joni helps connect your unique self to the meaning of music. Through singing or playing, she artfully responds to your intentions while building vocal confidence, whole-self presence, listening skills, and creative consciousness. She adapts to what you want to do and is open to you playing or writing from many genres, vocal improvisation, and piano or piano + vocal pieces. She also features performance readiness and original music, but works it in differently with each student. Your time together is constructive while exploring abstract ideas that music has to offer. Her aim is to guide you to a clear, free sound that is understood on a simple, sustainable level.
