I have experience teaching middle and high school orchestra, elementary general music and chorus, and private violin lessons both traditional and Suzuki. I have taught in large music schools, public schools, private schools, private studios and even a Suzuki School in Peru.

My 15 years of experience and education convince me that the very young, age 2 1/2 -5 benefit the most and are developmentally primed for violin lessons.

I have degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Shenandoah University, and the University of Georgia. I am a registered Suzuki teacher and have attended workshops and classes with Alice Joy Lewis, Brian Lewis, Carol Dallinger, Ed Kreitman, Nancy Lokken, Ed Sprunger, Ronda Cole, and Mimi Zweig. I have adjudicated festivals for individual performers and orchestra performances. I have performed with many ensembles including the University of Richmond Orchestra and the Bon Air Chamber Players. I am registered through Book 8 in the Suzuki volumes. In addition, I am registered in Stage 1 and Stage 2 for Suzuki Early Childhood Education, Prenatal and Early Years, having studied with Sharon Jones.

I spent 8 months teaching violin in Peru. I taught at the Latin American Suzuki Institute in Lima and at a private music school in Cusco. I have been published in the American Suzuki Journal, “Beckett and Suzuki.”
