I have my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and have been teaching in the public school system for 5 years. I have experience teaching music and working with students ranging from the grades of ECE-12th grade. I currently teach part-time for Denver Public Schools teaching students general music, choir, and beginner band in grades ECE-8th at Dora Moore Elementary School. Additionally, I have been teaching private piano, flute, and saxophone lessons for 5 years.
Degree and Field of Study:
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Like my keyboard and piano lessons, I always try to include student interest into my private orchestral lessons. For example, I may incorporate a familiar song that includes the theory aspects we are learning about that lesson. Are we focusing on the triplet and how to count and play it? To apply that knowledge, I may have us work through the Star Wars theme song which includes that triplet, but is recognizable to better help students retain the information. Although I try to make my lessons fun and focused around each individual student, I always set high expectations. I create practice schedules with weekly goals set by myself and the student. In addition, I love to include weekly duets which allow my student and I to create music together which only helps create a stronger love for playing.
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Being that I am experienced teaching keyboard/piano lessons to beginner or intermediate students, my lessons are fun and engaging. I work through lesson books to cover beginner theory aspects and the necessary tools to become a fluent piano player, but I also include student interest into each lesson. I inquire about personal music preferences such as pop songs, holiday songs, etc. and incorporate those into each regular lesson. Lessons will provide the necessary pedagogy, difficulty levels, and ideas to create an exceptional piano player, but will also include songs for leisure and fun to keep the love of piano playing growing with each and every lesson.

Additionally, I've worked in horn sections for cover bands performing shows full of genres such as R&B, Pop, and Blues.
Experience Teaching:
