I am a passionate musician specializing in guitar and ukulele. I have more than fifteen years experience writing/performing music for guitar, ukulele, 'oud, bass, piano, and hand percussion. I have experience performing, composing, and teaching in a wide variety of genres and styles, as well as proficiency with diatonic and jazz music theory and their applications to performing. I especially love improvisation and experimental or avant-garde applications of the guitar.

What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons

I will encourage students to push themselves to learn and grow as I believe that everyone has the capacity to master the craft of composition in much less time than common knowledge may suggest. My teaching philosophy is Socratic and centers around the role of the teacher as the guard rails, encouragement, and direction-coach, but that real learning can only happen from within the person seeking to learn and by their own effort. Most importantly I believe that there is nothing that a person is incapable of learning and so I wish to assist beginner and intermediate songwriters in really honing their highest potentials and coming into their own unique style, sound, and musical message.
