I have been playing for 15 years, and have been teaching lessons on the side for about 5 years now.  I have no formal training: I am completely self taught. What I have figured out works best for the student is to find out what style of music they are intested in and let them exceed in that genre rather then trying to teach them in a formal way and build into that genre. I am very good at listening to what the student wants and bringing that passion out of them. most of the people I am working with have some sort of training so i would consider them to be intermideant, but I do have a couple of beginners too. I am very passonate about music and make a living off of it. I can teach in the genres of rock, metal, funk, reggae, country, pop, classic rock, pretty much anything but jazz and classical. my number one thing is the art of the improve jam, because there is nothing like playing something that you did not know you were able to do. I have been in many jam bands and normal bands in my area and am currently playing in 2 bands and do guest spots with friends bands all the time.
