Review About Me
I am a woodwind specialist, and music theory teacher. If you are looking for an experienced, dynamic, fun-loving music professional to help you explore your passion for music, please consider me for the challenge. Currently, I am happily teaching sax, flute, clarinet, and recorder in Vancouver at a music school that I own called Sonny’s Music Studio as well as teaching for my friends. This last year I conducted an elementary school band (Brass and Wood Winds), taught small jazz ensembles, taught private lessons, and gave workshops.
I worked very hard for many years to establish myself as a Conservatory Woodwind Teacher as well as a Commercial Music/Jazz Instructor but love seems to have other ideas for the direction I should steer my life. Highlighted below are some notable highlights and career experience in the entertainment industry.

I have played guitar for almost 30 years but it has always been for fun. Professionally, I play woodwinds. My guitar students have a lot of fun learning songs.
What to expect in my Orchestral Lessons
Beginner
I student Jazz piano at university but it has always been my third instrument behind the woodwinds and guitar. I prepare students for grades 1-4 at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Formal Education:
I studied music at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, York University, and The Humber School of Music-some of my teachers were Pat Labarbera (Buddy Rich, JohnColtrane bands), Barry Harris (Charlie Parker), Oscar Peterson, just to name a few.
Performing Experience:
When I was younger I won both the Outstanding Soloist Award and the All-Star Band Awards at MusicFest Canada. I also won the Don Strathdee Music Scholarship for Southern Ontario. It also feels incredibly rewarding to see my current students audition and get accepted into the Vancouver Honor Band, and to watch them win the regional and national awards that I won when I was younger.
I performed for The Best of the Best of the West at the Canadian Juno Awards, the 2010 Olympics, and in the 1988 Youth Music Showcase for the Calgary Olympics. I was a music critic for both Skunk Magazine, and Montreal Music Scene. Currently, I am having fun with my YouTube channel that has a little over 30000 subscribers and growing.

I have taught at a number of music schools including the British Columbia Conservatory of Music, Long & McQuade (Vancouver), Tom Lee Music Schools (Vancouver,), The Beaches Arts Center (Toronto), The Toronto Music Center (Toronto).
