Joseph began playing piano at the age of 9, and saxophone at 14. Over the years, he developed his skills further by studying at the New England Conservatory Youth Program throughout his high school education, and is currently enrolled in Temple University studying Jazz Composition. He gained performance experience in the Boston area by playing at such venues as Restaurant Laura, Morrell's BBQ, Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen, Thunder Road, and Wally's Cafe and with acts such as Hot Brown, Freedom Cadre, and Makadi. Though Joseph can teach many different genres of music, his musical personal favorites are jazz, R&B, pop, songwriting, and contemporary improvisation which had great influence on his style of playing. Joseph loves music because it's his main outlet for creative expression and loves teaching music because he wants to share his experience and learnings passed down from his mentors. What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate
A study on melodic concepts, functional harmony, and motivic development. Students will develop an understanding of various song-structures including strophic, 32-bar form AABA, 12 bar blues, and Verse/Chorus/[Bridge].
What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner - Intermediate - Advanced
A hands-on approach to music theory as well as emphasis on foundations of rhythm, harmony, and improvisation as well as ear training.
Formal Education:
Joseph was enrolled in the New England Conservatory Jazz Youth Program throughout his high school education. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree at Temple University, where he studies Jazz Composition.
Private Education:
Joseph began studying piano under private mentorship at the age of 9.

Joseph has been performing piano and saxophone professionally for over 6 years in between the Boston, Philadelphia, and New York areas.
