Hi, my name is Xavier and I am a composer/pianist from Los Angeles, CA. I have been a student of music for 12 years. My musical influences include the likes of Ravel, Stravinsky, Glass, and Dutilleux. My teaching style can best be described as calm, focused, and expressive. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I value artistic expression and the tools necessary to achieve such over all else. In my lessons, you can expect to learn fundamentals of music theory, classic and contemporary music practices, how to best realize your own artistic voice as a musician. I like to tell my students to “listen for what the composer is saying, and interpret that through your own voice". I primarily teach beginning piano/composition and music theory/song writing. What to expect in my Keyboard and Piano Lessons
Beginner -
Students can expect to learn basic to in-depth music theory practices that span the Baroque to 21st century contemporary eras and basic keyboard practices as well as basic tools to develop and express a unique artistic voice.
What to expect in my Record Engineer Produce
Beginner -
Students can expect to learn the basics of Logic (and DAWs in general) and production technique ranging from MIDI sequencing to sound design.
What to expect in my Song Writing Lessons
Beginner -
Students can expect to gain an in depth knowledge of music theory ranging from Renaissance to 21st Century Contemporary to modern pop music, work to develop a diverse palate of musical sounds and ideas, and in depth exploration of the their intentions with and purposes for writing and how that pertains to the best expression of their unique artistic voices.
